Scottish parlament member caught torching hotel

"Squiffy" - what a wonderful word!

Why can't US politicians ever do entertaining things like torch hotels? Why are we stuck with a boring crew who is just perpetually stuck on stupid completely ignoring all the "fun" aspects of politics?

Villain: Lord Watson of Invergowrie
...
Then it all went rather horribly wrong. As I'm sure you're aware, at a nosh-up (with free alcohol) for the Scottish Parliamentarian of the Year Awards in one of Edinburgh's poshest hotels, he got rather squiffy and - bizarrely - set fire to the place.

After initially denying the whole thing - "I categorically deny any wrongdoing," he said - he eventually admitted it after being shown the CCTV coverage of him crouching down next to the curtains which soon after burst into flames. He was convicted and sentenced to 16 months inside. All rather a shame...
